The Trinity of Trust

Years ago, I trusted my husband with my money.  He was a stockbroker after all. But, alas, he lost almost everything.  After our divorce, I was terrified to trust anyone again.

Then at some point it dawned on me. I couldn’t just ignore money. I needed to start trusting myself. But how? I was financially clueless.

If you’re in a similar situation, let me introduce you to what I’ve come to call the Trinity of Trust. It’s how I began the journey of reclaiming my power and trusting myself to take financial responsibility.

THE TRINITY OF TRUST:

As I spent time connecting with each point on this triangle, I found myself building a firm foundation of trust in myself, in others who were trustworthy, and in my Higher Power.

It worked like this:

A.  I began examining all my unhealthy thoughts and limiting beliefs that were no longer serving me, replacing them with more positive ones. I also consciously looked for things to appreciate and love about myself.

B.  I sought out others who’d educate and encourage me. If I met someone smart with money, I’d pick their brain. I looked to role models for inspiration. I found friends to support my efforts and hold me accountable

C.  I carved out time to commune with my Soul, my connection to the Divine, through prayer and meditation. I tuned into my intuition and took advantage of synchronicities, despite my trepidation.

I found these 3 elements extraordinary helpful.  But to sustain my trust, I took one more step.

I drew a circle around this Trinity. I considered this a Sacred Circle, an impenetrable boundary. I’d let no one inside the circle… Including certain members my family…who didn’t respect, appreciate and support my efforts. No pessimists, naysayers or worry warts allowed.

Still, to this day, when I lose my footing, I go back inside that circle, connect to each point of the Trinity and recall the words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.

Truer words were never spoken.

What is one thing you could do today to begin to build your foundation of Trust? Leave me a comment below.

Thanks for asking ! ( But first of all: thanks for sharing your p.o.v. ! ) The one thing I could for sure do today, is :beginning to love myself unconditionally despite all my flaws and be playful with everything that I am confronted:-)

Pinelopi, there is nothing more important that you could do than that!!! It’s also what I’m working on too–self love and radical acceptance! Thanks for sharing!!!

    Hi Barbara ~ Thank ‘U’ for gifting us [tr.US.t} with your e-book … 💛

Wondering if you’ve given any consideration to distinguishing “BEing” from “DOing” ? It’s my understanding when one is consciously breathing, we are present 2B trusting (a ‘now’ moment).

This awareness as ‘now’ is a Choice Point for choosing what’s next … 💚 BEing w/in our Heart Intelligence. In the neutrality of a ‘choice point’ moment one is trusting one self. Everyone else ‘now’ becomes “trustworthy” (or not)… 💙

Consider one’s choice to BE in Action (BIA) is distinct from DOing ?

When we’re other than now, we are engaging in doing … and ‘busy.ness’. Doing is measurable, while BEing is ineffable (w/out measure). It’s the notion of differentiating ‘quantity’ from ‘quality’ or ‘competence’ from ‘confidence’.

Thanks for reading … and responding, if ‘U’ choose … 💜

Suppose instead of asking, “how are you doing?”, the question becomes, “how are you BEing?” Would this BE transformational? … 🧡
