I’m in Resistance! How Do I Escape?

You know the feeling. You finally decide to take the financial reins. You’ll pay off your debt, save for emergencies, invest regularly for retirement.

Off you go—to take a financial class, talk to an advisor, buy a money book when suddenly, you run smack dab into Resistance.

Resistance is the psychological term for “I don’t want to do this!”

So, you cancel the appointment, lose interest in the book, sit through the class, but nothing sinks in. You figure money’s not your thing.  Eventually, you quit trying.

Resistance, more than anything else, is what stops women from taking the financial reins. But it doesn’t need to derail you, at least not for long.

You need to understand that resistance is normal. It’s a signal that you’re changing, heading into unfamiliar territory, not that something is wrong.

When you find yourself running into a wall, find a friend, a colleague or financial professional to hold you accountable. Whatever it is you don’t want to do, that is exactly what you need to do next.

If you dig deeper, you’ll find that what lies on the other side of Resistance is your Power.

It’s not managing our money, but about the powerful woman you must become to attract, maintain and grow your money. It’s owning our Power that really scares us.

Which is why I created The Wealth Connection, a safe, intimate online community of women supporting women ready to claim their power. I invite you to check it out and take advantage of my special offer.

I’d love to hear what you’ve done to overcome your resistance. Tell me about it in the comments below.

I’ve noticed I’ve been going through resistance a lot over the last week. I think it has something to do with the year starting to wind down and anticipating something I’m about to work on to be very hard, mind boggling and overwhelming that’s going to require a lot of focus 🧘‍♀️

To overcome resistance, I’m focusing on why it’s important, how I’m going to feel when it’s done and reward. So far, I’ve finished half of what I’m working on so I’m going to a near by hot spring to relax! I also resolved a major technical issues, so I’m feeling very confident right now. I thought I wouldn’t be able to resolve it, but I finally did. Relief!

I love the way you worked through your resistance, resolved your technical issues, and now you’re taking a break to relax. Very smart. When you get back to the second half, you might also try saying affirmations over and over to rewire your brain to be more relaxed. The one I always use: “THis is going to be so easy.” My other one: “Everything always works out for me!” Do I believe it when I first start saying it? NO! But with constant repetition, it’s amazing how those words sink in and my thinking shifts dramatically. Try it!
